About the Authors
Sylvan Rainwater has
been working with Clackamas County Family Literacy (an Even Start program
administered by Clackamas County Head Start) for 8 years. Her primary job has
been Adult Education in the classroom, teaching ESL and computers, and now she
coordinates the Family Literacy program as well as continuing to teach Adult Ed.
She worked on an earlier ESL Family Literacy curriculum guide, and is currently
studying at Oregon State University towards a masters degree in Adult Education. Carol Mazer has
coordinated the ever-changing Poder Family Literacy Program since its beginning
in October, 1992. She has written curriculum, trained teachers and taught basic
computer literacy in Spanish as well as ESL. She has also produced documentary
videos. Mary Ann Phillips teaches ESL in an Even Start Family Literacy Program in Cornelius, OR. She has worked in the field of ESL and Family Literacy for ten years, primarily with Spanish-speaking families. She has integrated technology into classrooms with only one computer/no Internet as well as in a computer lab setting. |
