New Instruction:

1.  To develop an understanding of addition and subtraction of fractions, click here http://www.math.com/school/subject1/lessons/S1U4L3GL.html.  Do Step 1 through Step 4.

2.  To continue developing your understanding of addition and subtraction of fractions, click here http://www.kidsolr.com/math/fractions.html and complete Add/Subtract Fractions & Mixed Numbers.  Pay particular attention to Subtracting Mixed Numbers on pages 10 and 11 for borrowing instruction.

Feedback and Review:

1.  To practice your addition fraction problems, click here http://www.visualfractions.com/.  Scroll down to Add Fractions and complete all six sections.  Read the instructions at the bottom of the page and complete correctly 20 problems at the top of the page.

Add Fractions With Lines or Add Fractions With Circles will give you instruction and practice in addition of fractions. Each addend in this program has like denominators.

Add Unlike Fractions With Lines or Add Unlike Fractions With Circles will give instruction and practice in addition of fractions with unlike denominators. Common denominators may be required.

Add Fractions-Strict With Lines or Add Fractions-Strict With Circles will give instruction and practice in addition of fractions with unlike denominators. The sum must be entered as a mixed number and in lowest terms.

2.  To practice your subtraction fraction problems, click here http://www.kidsolr.com/math/fractions.html.  Scroll down to Subtract Fractions and complete all four sections.  Read the instructions at the bottom of the page and complete correctly 20 problems at the top of the page.

Subtract Fractions With Lines or Subtract Fractions With Circles will give instruction and practice in subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. The concept of "borrowing" is introduced.

Subtract Fractions-Strict With Lines or Subtract Fractions-Strict With Circles will give instruction and practice in subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. The difference must be entered as a mixed number and in lowest terms.
