As a professional development opportunity, many Montana ABLE personnel were able to attend the regional Learning to Achieve trainings last fall.  For those trainings, the L2A trainers were required by training regulations to provide specific modules to the participants.  Within the next eight weeks, the L2A conversation will continue with the trainers providing snippets from the remaining L2A modules.  For many folks, these modules may provide some “meat” for classroom instruction.

The L2A snippets will do the following:

·       sustain the professional conversation that originated in regional trainings.

·       help ensure that best practice strategies becomes job-embedded.

·       increase awareness of the research-based strategies that can benefit all ABLE students.

L2A Trainers and MTLINCS

Per our December conference call, Norene and Chris have prepared a template and calendar for sharing important nuggets in the remaining modules. If you recall the purpose of the template is to share activities and information to keep the L2A strategies on everyone's mind for the remainder of the year ...

L2A Trainer Conference Call

Dear Trainers,

I know Carol has sent you the conference call dial-information for next Tuesday. Our call will begin at 3:00 P.M., please contact Carol if you did not receive the call-in information.

I have attached the agenda (Click here) and a response that has been drafted to address the parking lot questions that arose at the Western Region training. (Click here.) Please read the Intake and Protocol Regarding Student Privacy prior to the call; we can address any questions you may have. Upon consensus, I will share this policy with the field.

Last on the agenda is the topic of sustaining the conversation. Two of you suggested that we have some type of electronic format for continuing the conversation. I would like to suggest that you check out http://www.nwlincs.org/mtlincs/index.htm. Norene added the L2A link to the home page after returning from the training last summer, there is already the beginning of a resource list and some fabulous photos from the Eastern training. Be thinking about how this site might be the hub for continuing the L2A conversation; other suggestions are welcome. I am just thinking that this link will help you start generating some great ideas to share during the conference call.

Looking forward to visiting with you,

Margaret

Hello Everyone!

I have attached the logistical information on the Learning to Achieve Trainings that will be coming up in Missoula and Billings in October. Training days will start at 8:30!

Select the region closest to you that fits your schedule. This training is directly connected to Standards in Action because you will learn additional strategies to make EFL gains for lower level learners.

PLEASE EMAIL ME NO LATER THAN MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2011 AND LET ME KNOW WHICH TRAINING ABLE STAFF FROM YOUR PROGRAM WILL BE ATTENDING.

Thank you,

Carol
