National Institute of Corrections:
The National Institute of Corrections is a center of correctional learning and experience that aims to advance and shape effective correctional practice and public policy, respond to the needs of corrections through collaboration and leadership, and provide assistance, information, education, and training. NIC is a small agency within the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, that provides assistance to federal, state, and local corrections agencies working with adult offenders. NIC also provides leadership to influence correctional policies, practices, and operations nationwide in areas of emerging interest and concern to correctional executives and practitioners as well as public policymakers.
