All
students will use the Internet Explorer icon to get onto the Internet.
Each student will pull up the search engine www.yahoo.com.
Each
student will type a question into the search box of Yahoo.
Students will compare the website addresses that are displayed
(based off what terminology they used).
Prior
to the class starting each student wrote down three topics that they would
like to know more information on. Students
typed in their questions and opened some of the various websites that the
search engine lead them to.
From
the handout have students look up other search engines and become familiar
with them. Examples: www.yahooligans.com

This activity allows the students to become familiar with surfing the web. It allows the student to become aware of the various topics they can look up while using the computer.

| Have the student’s brain storm in class as a group about what information they would most like to look up. Have all of the students look up the same information and discuss afterwards what they found (compare). | |||
