NAVIGATING LINCS:
The System includes five primary Web sites that are color
coded to tell you where you are in the system. The National
LINCS site and other pages from National LINCS
are red and purple.

Each of the five partner sites in the LINCS Network
is a valuable collection of literacy related resources in
its own right. As part of the LINCS Network,
however, each site points you to even more great literacy
resources.
Each of the five LINCS entry sites include
four navigational elements on the right side of the banner
at the top of the page. SITE MAP is an alphabetical
index of the resources included in the LINCS System,
or the LINCS site you are in. Clicking on the
word HELP brought you here. Clicking on the word HOME will lead you to
the homepage of the site you are on. Remember that these are
color-coded!

the upper left hand corner of the banner there is an icon,

Materials Search

A precise search of
human-cataloged research, instructional materials, and
curriculum resources available through the LINCS
network. Use this search to find videos, books, journals,
and web-based materials. Search results include summaries of
the resources and other useful information.
Global Search

Do a broad search of web sites
in the LINCS network -- national, regional,
and in 50 states and territories -- and in 15 other major
national and international sites. Use this search to locate
resources available only on the web and to get A LOT of
hits.
America's Literacy Directory
Try

Search this comprehensive
on-line directory of local literacy providers in all 50
states and U.S. territories to find adult basic education,
English as a second language, GED preparation, homework
assistance, and after school programs in your neighborhood.
List Search
Try

Access ideas and suggestions
from any or all of the NIFL and other literacy-related
online discussion lists by searching across the archived
discussions.
Grants
Search

A precise search of more than
500 current funding opportunities available from federal
government, state, and local government, private industry,
foundations, and other funding sources. Search results
include summaries of the resources and other useful
information.
LINCS Unique Features

The LINCS Special Collections are one-stop
electronic gateways to specialized information on
high-quality literacy practices and materials for use in
adult education and literacy programs. There are 11 topic
areas maintained on this page: Assessments, Correctional

Future, Family Literacy, Health & Literacy, Literacy
& Learning Disabilities, Policy & Legislation,
Science & Numeracy, Technology Training, Workforce
Education. Found under each topic are curriculum, articles,
lesson plans and classroom activities.

The LINCS online discussion lists give
literacy stakeholders the opportunity to discuss the
literacy field's critical issues. There are 12 National Discussion Lists: Assessment,
EFF, ESL, Family Literacy, Focus on Basics, Health & Literacy, Homeless & Literacy,
Learning Disabilities, Poverty, Race & Literacy, Technology, Women & Literacy and Workplace Literacy. Archives may be searched also.

The MY LINCS feature allow users to create a profile of their interests so they
can receive email updates of what is new on LINCS
that will be of interest to them.

The LINCS HOT Sites award program highlights
and promotes the "best" Web-based resources in and
for the adult basic education and literacy community. Found
on this page are: Learning webs, lesson plans, curriculum,
training guides and much more. The page is updated twice a
year. It provides feedback from the users.

The purple buttons are the categories of resources, and
the gray buttons will take you to the content pages with the
