Short Summary  The Lively Arts History Association presents the Gentleman's Page: a resource for those who wish to look and act like; or perhaps better understand, the 19th Century American man. It is intended to help costumers, theatrical performers, museum docents, reenactors and anyone with an interest in the life of 19th Century America.  This site was written to teach history through the visual arts, which means this site is captivating.  The reading level is fairly high.  Many pictures and stories.  Not interactive.

Short Summary

The ESL Wonderland portion appears not to have been updated recently.  The original copyright was 1996.

It appears that the last time the site was updated was on 6/02.  There are only six interactive activities on the site.  Listeners need to be able to access RealAudio Player.  Some of the links have both pre and post listening activities.  Those activities are the most inclusive and professional.  The listening activities are at a very high level.

Where/How could this resource be used?

The activity could be used for not only high level ESL students but also for those students who want practice in listening and note-taking.

Short Summary:

This Online Course offers complete instruction on any/all arithmetic topics. You will be shown every concept in detail, have continuous opportunities to test your understanding, and participate in activities that identify topics that should be studied.

Topics include whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percents and ratio and proportion.

Using the Table of Contents you can quickly locate any topic that needs to be studied/learned, move to that location, and receive the help wanted. If the titles of the topics are insufficient to identify your area of need, the sample tests will help you locate any particular problem you want to attack.

The pretest helps the student locate the area to study and a post test can be used after the lessons and practice.  This could be used as a stand-alone site.

Title Parenting
Subject Parenting Resources for Difficult Children/Family Literacy
URL www.healthyplace.com
Author US Dept. of Education/Labor
Audience k-adult
Date reviewed 4/12/04
Type of material Parenting education
Short Summary This is a comprehensive site for parent resource information.  If I were a parent, it would be a support resource for  finding understanding of child rearing issues that run the gamut. It focuses on all kinds of challenges from developmental issues to issues of communication.  It gives information that run the spectrum of extreme negativity to normal to the positive with regard to behavior and personality traits in children.  It gives lots of advice and insight on challenging behavior issues in children and tips on coping with the same.  This is a very useful and friendly site.  The links are very clear and self-explanatory.  My only criticism of the site is the lack of clear access to other links.  I had some trouble connecting with link references.
Where/How could this resource be used?
This is an excellent resource to refer both students and their parents for child care concerns.  It could also be implemented into an orientation activity or as resource for parents who need help with challenging issues.
